St. Francis Xavier’s Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions for When We Return to On-Campus Instruction
How many days a week will students attend school?
In-person instruction will be five hybrid half days, with additional distance learning daily of auxillary classes.
What if I want to keep my student home?
Distance learning or In-person instruction are 100% up to the parent to decide. If parents want to keep their student at home, they can participate from home. If they want their student to attend in-person, they can attend in-person.
What if I want to change my student from distance learning to in-person instruction or the reverse?
You can change at any time.
Will students wear masks?
All students are required to wear masks. Any person on campus above the age of two is required to wear a face mask.
What are the requirements for hand washing throughout a school day?
Students will hand-sanitize every time they enter the school building or their classroom, before and after eating, after using restrooms, after outdoor play and before and after group activity. They will hand wash after using the restroom and at designated times by stable group during the day.
What is the protocol for physical distancing?
Student desks will face one direction, in a checkerboard format six feet apart whenever possible. Markers are on the ground outside the school office, restrooms and on the playground to encourage students to stand six feet apart.
Will students have their temperature taken?
We ask all parents to take a student’s temperature even before they leave for school each day. In addition each morning we will take each student’s temperature before entering the school building.
What will be the procedure for morning drop off?
Parents will drive up the long west driveway. When they enter the lower parking lot there will be only one coned lane. When a parent’s car gets to the front of the line near Cabrini Hall. Students temperatures will be taken and parents will have to review screening questions before the student exits the car. Then cars will exit the Cabrini Hall gate. We ask if your student is assigned a classroom in the lower school to exit the passenger side of the car. If students are assigned a classroom in the upper school to exit the driver's side of the car.
What will be the procedure for afternoon pickup?
Parents will drive up the long west driveway. When they enter the lower parking lot there will be only one coned lane. When a parent’s car gets to the front of the line near Cabrini Hall, we will announce the family name and the students will enter the car.
Will students be able to order lunch?
At ths time we do not plan on being on campus for lunch. If we are able to return to school for full day instruction, than Choice Lunch has created the alacarte program. When you place an order online you will select the entrée, the drink, the snack, and the dessert. Each student’s lunch will come packaged especially for them and it will be delivered directly to their classroom.
Where will students eat a snack?
Students will either eat a snack in their assigned classroom or outside with just their teacher and their stable group of students.
What happens if a student has symptoms of Corona Virus?
If a student has been in contact with anyone that has Corona Virus, or someone in their family has been in contact with anyone that has Corona Virus, or if they have any symptoms of Corona Virus they will need to stay home. They are able to participate from home using our distance learning option.
Will the students be able to play on the playground?
Playtime on the playground will take place in zones. The same students in the classroom will play in the same zone on the playground.
Will volunteers or visitors be allowed on campus?
We will be following the LA County guidelines of the number of adults that can interact with a stable group of students. Volunteers will not be allowed in the school unless they are part of a disinfecting team. Any other volunteers will be outside only.
What happens if a student or teacher has Covid-19?
We will follow the LA County Public County Health guidelines for when that student or teacher can return to live instruction, and whether a classroom or the entire school will move to distance learning.
When can a student return to school after they have had or likely had Covid-19?
We will follow the current LA County Public Health Department Guidelines.
Will there be afterschool care?
At this time all after school sports and after school care have been suspended.
